Gegevens voertaal Nederlandse universiteiten 2017/18

I’m always needing this as a reference, so I’m posting here two tables showing the language of instruction in (1) bachelor’s and (2) master’s programmes in the Netherlands. Some additional info:

  • The universities included are the 14 publicly funded universities in the Netherlands
  • The data are from the academic year 2017/18
  • The data are adapted from the latest figures from the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU). The figures for the bachelor’s programmes are available here and for the master’s programmes here.

NL = programmes that can only be followed by students competent in Dutch, because there are mandatory elements that are only offered in Dutch. These programmes may well also involve English-language subjects and teaching materials.

NL+ENG = programmes offered in both a Dutch- and an English-langauge variant, where students can choose for one or the other.

ENG = fully English-language programmes.
